Grateful For Listening

Sometimes, we’re trying so hard to be heard that we don’t stop to listen.

And these past few weeks, as I’ve listened more and talked a whole lot less, a great weight has been lifted.

I am learning and understanding so many things around me in a whole new light.

I am no longer preoccupied by my own thoughts and voice.

I am listening, and in turn, I am being heard.

 Are you a good listener?

  1. Do you know what… you’ve got a great point here! To listen is to shift the focus from ourselves and outwards to others…. it’s good to get away from ourselves sometimes, isn’t it?

  2. What a bloody good thing to do, Shell. I added the swearing there for emphasis. I try to be a good listener, but I’m a good talker too so I think a conscious effort to NOT TALK as much will assist my listening no end!! x

    • You know sometimes I think the thing about being a talker (and you can be a good talker, it’s not a bad thing) is that people expect you to always be a talker, like it’s your role to make the conversation. I used to be a big talker, but over the last three or four years I’ve worked hard to tone it down, and you know what? Talking is bloody hard work!! Listening is the easy part. x

  3. Thank you for posting this. It’s a skill I’ve been trying to learn. When things don’t make sense maybe I just need to listen better.
P.S. – I found your blog to see how many others write about being grateful.

    • Thanks so much for stopping by Mark. I think I’ve posted 40 grateful posts over the last year, and as you can see there is a grateful blog hop that we share that you should join in with. I look forward to reading your blog. x
